Someone else is already deciding.

Every AI memory system currently shipping makes the same set of decisions on your behalf. It decides what about you is worth keeping. It decides when to summarise. It decides what gets pruned, and it does not tell you when something is gone.

None of that is a failure. It is the design. Automatic capture only works if something other than you is deciding what matters.

The result is a record of you that you did not write and cannot fully inspect. Most people find out what was dropped when the model answers as though it never knew.

What Briefed does instead

Four decisions stay with you, and they are the four that determine what an AI knows about you.

You write it

Every entry in the vault exists because you put it there. Nothing is inferred from your behaviour.

You curate it

Items go in and come out at the item level. The vault is the record, and the record is what you last decided it should be.

You set the depth

Essential, Standard or Complete is a choice you make each time you generate a briefing. It is not a summarisation policy applied to you.

Nothing else gets a vote

No capture, no scoring, no background pruning, no network call. The full permission list and the vault's encryption parameters are on the Security page, and every claim there is checkable without trusting us.

The position

This is not an argument against AI

Briefed exists to make AI more useful, not less used. The objection is narrow and specific: the machine should not be the one deciding what it knows about you.

A permission prompt is a policy, and policies change in a product update. No network path is an architecture.

What it costs

This position has a price, and it is the same price every time.

No automatic capture

Briefed does not capture anything automatically, because capture means something else decided what mattered.

No inference

It does no inference at all. It does not think. It assembles what you wrote and hands it to the model you chose.

No password recovery

There is no account, no server and no copy of your key. If you lose it, the vault is gone.
